Jubilee Summer Edu-Venture Camp
Our seven-week Summer Education and Adventure Camp provides a unique recreational and educational experience for children ages 6 to 13. Mornings Monday through Thursday are dedicated to academic instruction with certified teachers, with the goal of preparing students for the upcoming school year. Campers are placed in small groups according to learning level, and are supervised by highly qualified counselors and educators. Afternoons consist of activities such as dance, art, gardening, cooking, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, outdoor sports, and computers. Each Friday, campers embark on a field trip to a different location within the tri-state area.
One of the goals of our summer camp is to help prepare students for the upcoming school year. Last summer, educational instruction took place Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm. Each session began with D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read), followed by lessons in Math and English Language Arts.
Working under the philosophy of meeting students where they are, our team of highly qualified teachers ensured that each student was engaged and prepared to learn.
To track student progress, in 2014 we administered a test at the beginning and end of summer camp. At the end of our program 95% of students’ test scores in math, reading, and writing improved, serving as evidence of academic growth.
This year, due to the generosity of Sharon Worosilo, MD, the team of certified teachers were paid for by the Mark A. Worosilo Certified Teachers’ Fund, named after Dr. Worosilo’s brother, a retired teacher.
We offer a variety of field trips for our campers within and outside of Hoboken. In the past, students have visited the Bronx Zoo, the Liberty Science Center, Field Station Dinosaurs, and Alstede Farms, and participated in kayaking, sailing, and paddleboarding adventures on the Hudson River.
Walter A. Worosilo Sleep Away Camp
To supplement our day camp experience, we offer a sleep away camp session each summer. This 4 day/3 night camping excursion is optional and open to campers of all ages at no additional cost, due to the generosity of Sharon Worosilo, MD, after whose beloved father the camp session is named.
