Academic support is a critical component of our after school and summer programs.
Our students receive homework assistance and educational instruction Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Academic enrichment is supplemented by evening tutoring sessions, hands-on Science, Technology, Math, and Engineering (STEM) workshops, and (on days when school is out early) field trips to the Liberty Science Center, Museum of Natural History, Hoboken Public Library, and more.
One of the goals of our camp is to prepare students for the upcoming school year. Educational instruction takes place Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm. Each session begins with D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read), followed by lessons in Math and English Language Arts.
In 2014, we administered a test at the beginning and end of summer camp. At the end of our program 95% of students’ math, reading, writing, and test scores improved, serving as evidence of academic growth.
